Veteran identifier on Missouri Drivers Licenses

Per the Missouri Veterans Commission:

Starting today, August 28, 2012, a Veteran has the option to have a “Veteran” identifier added to their Missouri Drivers licenses.  A Veteran will need to provide a copy of their DD-214, and meet the guidelines as set forth by legislation, as proof of service.  There is no additional cost to add this option to your driver’s license, however regular drivers license renewal or reprint fees will apply.  There is no guarantee that a business will accept this identifier for discounts, etc.  Some may still require additional documentation as their individual policy requires.

It should be noted that starting soon, the look of the Missouri driver’s license will change.  This will be effective statewide by March 2013 and is currently being implemented in certain cities.  Veterans may wish to hold off on obtaining a new license with the Veteran identifier until these changes are effective at their DMV location.  However, the new Veteran identifier is available on both the “old” and “new” driver’s licenses.
