About Sherwood Estates

Sherwood Estates was one of the earliest high-end developments in the Northland back in the mid 1950's.

Our Developer, James Stanton, obtained acorns from England's Sherwood Forest and several of our large pin-oak trees originated from those tiny acorns.   What a beginning!

Chouteau Trafficway didn't exist and the only entrance into our neighborhood was the main entrance at Vivion Rd and Cleveland Ave.

To this day we still have a few original homeowners!  Because our demographics were aging -- the NKC School District was going to close Lakewood Elementary School due to low census.   We, your Homes Association, and others convinced the district that our homes were selling to young families and that Lakewood would soon be full again.   We were right and the elementary school is at capacity and still one of the highest ranking elementary schools in Missouri.

We also work very closely with KC Parks and Rec for upkeep to Penguin Park and Lakewood Greenway.
