Sherwood Bible Church:  2017 Pool Closing

Post date: Mar 16, 2017 10:40:41 PM

Greetings friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and all of our staff, I would like to thank you for your support over the years as our organization has persevered through many trials, challenges, joys, and excitement. Over 30 years ago, we made a commitment to serve our community through family-friendly recreation, Gospel-driven relationships, and a passion to serve one another. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve you, and we count it a tremendous blessing and honor to consider you as friends.

With this in mind, it is with great sadness that we are announcing the suspension of pool operations for the 2017 season. This has been a difficult decision to make, and it was not made lightly or quickly. There were many factors involved in making this decision, some within our control and many outside of our control. As you are surely aware, the price of water has skyrocketed tremendously over the last 5 years. Along with an increased cost, we also have ongoing issues with our aging infrastructure. By our best calculations, our pools were built sometime in the 1960's, putting them at approximately 50 years old.

Our board will be putting together a plan to resolve existing financial obligations as well as making sure we have funds on hand to cover future start-up costs. When we have more details to share about pool operations or future events, we will pass those along.

Thank you for your years of patronage and support. We look forward to serving you in the future.

With gratitude,

David Pierce
