Post date: Mar 23, 2014 2:35:42 AM

The City of Kansas City, Mo., announces that its springtime curbside leaf and brush collection will take place the week of April 14

Residents who live in the City’s North Zone will receive collection the week of April 14. The North Zone includes all residents who live between the Missouri River north to the City’s northern city limit.

On their regularly designated trash pickup day, residents may place up to 20 bags or bundles of leaf and brush at the curb by 7 a.m.

Please follow the collection rules:

Last fall, Water Services collected more than 2,300 tons of leaf and debris, which might have otherwise been dumped or washed into area streams and rivers. The safe disposal of leaf and brush through this citywide program helps protect the public health of Kansas City’s communities and water resources.

Residents may also use the City's leaf and brush drop-off sites, which reopen for the season on Saturday, March 15 at 8 a.m. All three centers are equipped to handle yard waste, leaves and brush, including waste from trees affected by the emerald ash borer.

The centers are located at 11660 N. Main St., 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway and 10301 Raytown Road. The three sites are open and free for residents on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, residents may recycle yard waste at the North Chouteau Trafficway and North Main Street sites on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a small fee.

In addition to dropping off leaves and brush, residents may also pick up mulch at the drop-off sites. Residents may pick up first ground mulch for free at any of the sites, or they may purchase natural darkwood, red and brown mulch and natural compost from the North Chouteau Trafficway and North Main Street sites for a discounted fee.
